BetKing at a glance: who it suits

BetKing is a Nigerian sportsbook run by SV Gaming Limited; KingMakers, the group behind it, calls it its flagship brand in Nigeria. You can bet on its website, in Android and iPhone apps or in shops run by its large network of agents. Football is the core of the offer, alongside live betting, esports, a wide range of BetKing's own virtual games and a casino with slots, table games and crash-style titles such as Aviator.

The service is built for one market only. Accounts run in naira, payments go through Nigerian banks and wallets, and the terms only accept adults of 18 or over who live in Nigeria and have a valid Nigerian ID. That makes BetKing a practical choice for adults in Nigeria and no option for anyone elsewhere.

Our rating

7.7/ 10

Good: 7.7 / 10. Every operator is rated on the same five criteria and weights. The overall score is the weighted mean, rounded to one decimal. Read the method.

  • Trust & licensing30 %7.5A named Nigerian operator from a large African group, licensed in Lagos, but the only licence we could confirm comes from a state regulator, and the terms and complaint routes offer less protection than strict regulators require.
  • Betting markets / games range25 %8.0Strong football coverage with live betting, esports and a large in-house virtuals range; the casino is useful but thinly documented.
  • Website & apps15 %7.9Desktop, mobile site and apps in both official stores plus USSD and agent shops, though users often describe the screens as busy.
  • Payments15 %8.2Local cards, bank transfers, USSD and OPay or PalmPay wallets with low minimums and no withdrawal fee, offset by naira-only accounts, withdrawal caps and the 5% tax on online winnings.
  • Support & safer gambling15 %7.0Round-the-clock chat, phone and email support, but safer gambling stops at breaks, closure and self-exclusion, and no independent dispute service is named.

Licensing and trust

The licence we could verify comes from the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA), whose list of licensed operators names SV Gaming Limited, trade name BetKing, for online sports betting and online casino. Licences on that list run for one year and BetKing's entry has moved from one annual term to the next, so the dates shown change every autumn. The list is not always updated promptly: archived copies still showed BetKing's earlier term, which ended in October 2025, until at least late July 2026. Check the current entry before you sign up, and if the dates look out of date, ask BetKing or the authority to confirm the licence is in force.

BetKing additionally claims licences from the Anambra State Gaming Company and the Osun State Government, plus one from the national lottery regulator. We have not checked these claims in those registers, so we treat them as the operator's own statements. In November 2024 Nigeria's Supreme Court ruled the National Lottery Act void outside the Federal Capital Territory, which leaves gaming regulation mainly with the states.

Ownership is clear: the terms name SV Gaming Limited with company number RC 1419108, the iPhone app is published under the same company, and KingMakers, an Africa-focused group, calls BetKing its flagship brand in Nigeria. Protection is lighter than under UK or EU rules, though. The terms give BetKing wide room to cap winnings, void bets and close accounts, no independent dispute service is named, and legal disputes go to the Nigerian courts. That places BetKing at the lower edge of our regulated band.

Sportsbook and odds

Football leads. The app listings put Nigeria's NPFL next to the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and the Champions League. Basketball, tennis, cricket and ice hockey are covered, as are the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL and smaller sports such as table tennis and badminton. Esports has guides for Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and League of Legends, and the Simulated Reality League adds computer-simulated football from Friday to Monday.

Bet slips take singles, accumulators with up to 40 selections and combination or system bets, and live betting covers events in progress. Bet Builder combines markets from one football match, a booking code saves a slip to place later, and rebet reloads the open selections of an earlier ticket. Cash out works on single and multiple bets but not system bets, and shop tickets can be cashed out through an agent.

Read the settlement rules first. The terms cap payouts per slip and per day, set lower daily caps for esports, eFootball, table tennis and badminton, and let BetKing treat near-identical slips from a group of customers as one bet. Cash-out requests carry a short delay and can be rejected if prices move.

Casino and virtual games

The casino has slots, blackjack, roulette and crash-style games such as Aviator, mixing well-known slots with locally themed titles like Danfo Lagos and Chicken Keke. The help centre says very little about the casino, so check each game's rules and information panel, including any return-to-player figure, before you play.

Virtual sports are where BetKing stands out. Its own products include Kings' League virtual football and Colour-Colour, and there are virtual horse and greyhound races plus Keno, Spin2Win and similar number games. Virtual events run around the clock, one after another, which makes it easy to bet far more than planned, so decide on a time and money limit before you start.

Website and mobile apps

Besides the desktop and mobile sites, the Android app is listed on Google Play in Nigeria with more than five million downloads, and the iPhone app is on the Nigerian App Store under SV Gaming Limited; both carry an 18+ rating. As the Android app comes from Google Play, there is no need to install a file from a website. The terms also list SMS, USSD and point-of-sale channels.

The screens are crowded with menus, tiles and banners. App store reviews complain about busy pages and back navigation, and recent iPhone update notes list fixes for navigation loops. A settings panel covers odds format, theme and the live match tracker. New accounts must verify their phone number by one-time code within 30 days, or the account is locked.

Deposits and withdrawals

The cashier fits how people in Nigeria move money. Deposit routes include cards through Interswitch, Quickteller and Paystack, transfers from banks such as GTBank, Zenith and UBA, USSD, the OPay and PalmPay wallets and payments at bank branches via Paydirect. Only Nigerian debit cards in your own name work; international cards do not. Interswitch card deposits carry no fee, Quickteller lists a small one, and bank charges may apply.

Withdrawals go to a naira bank account or an OPay or PalmPay wallet in your own name. The help centre lists a minimum of 1,000 naira and no withdrawal fees, and the terms allow four withdrawal requests per 24 hours. The FAQ asks you to allow up to 24 hours after an internal audit, while the terms allow up to five working days once a withdrawal is approved, so plan with the longer figure. Deposits cannot be withdrawn without first placing bets.

BetKing asks for a valid photo ID, such as a national identity card, passport, driver's licence or voter's card, before paying out winnings, and runs extra checks on larger payouts. Upload your ID soon after registering.

BetKing's FAQ also explains that it deducts a 5% withholding tax from net online winnings, calculated monthly as winnings minus stakes. An amount is set aside when you withdraw and any excess is refunded at month end. According to BetKing, bonuses, free bets and offline shop bets are not taxed this way.

Welcome offers and promotions

BetKing usually runs a welcome offer for new customers, accumulator bonuses on multiple bets, free-bet campaigns, casino promotions and prize draws tied to virtual games and casino play. Offers change often and have their own terms, so we do not quote amounts.

Welcome bonus funds come with wagering requirements, and bets settled through cash out do not count towards first-deposit bonus wagering. Read the current terms before opting in, and remember that prize draws and accumulator boosts exist to make you bet more often.

Customer support

Customer service is open 24/7 through live chat, two call centre numbers, email and BetKing's accounts on X, Instagram and Facebook. The help centre has step-by-step guides for registering, depositing, withdrawing, cashing out, booking bets and verifying your identity, plus a long FAQ and the betting rules.

Complaints go to customer service first and then to an advisor, who sends the final decision by email or internal message. Complaints about how a bet was accepted or settled must be raised within 30 days of the event. Beyond this internal process, the only route the terms set out is the Nigerian courts, so keep screenshots and bet slip IDs.

Safer gambling tools

BetKing's responsible gaming page offers three tools under Gambling Controls. You can pause one product, several or all of them for a period you pick and end the pause early yourself; close your account, which customer service can later reopen; or self-exclude, which cannot be undone during the chosen period and keeps the account closed until you contact BetKing afterwards. If you close your account because of a gambling problem, the terms say you will be banned from all BetKing platforms permanently.

Self-service deposit, loss and session limits are missing: the page tells players to set money and time limits but describes no tool to enforce them. It includes a short self-assessment, points to Gambling Therapy for free support and suggests blocking software, and BetKing's Google Play listing refers players to Gamble Alert, a Nigerian support initiative. Under-18s are not accepted. More help is listed on our responsible gambling page.

Our verdict on BetKing

BetKing covers what many bettors in Nigeria look for: wide football coverage, live betting with cash out and Bet Builder, a large range of its own virtual games, local payment routes and support around the clock.

The limits are just as clear. The only licence we could confirm comes from a state regulator whose register needs checking each year, the terms favour the operator on payout caps and closures, and safer gambling tools stop short of deposit or loss limits. If you are an adult in Nigeria and choose BetKing, check the current Lagos register entry, verify your ID early, set your own limits and treat betting as paid entertainment, never as income.
